Step by step
How to Create an AI Short Film from Scratch
Start with a blank page. End with one cinematic video you can download. The path is a logline, a cast, frames you accept, then the animation.
The steps
Four moves from a sentence to a file.
- Write a loglineOne or two sentences. Who it is, what they want, and the tone. That sentence is the brief, not the finished shot list.
- Choose the castPick actors from the Casting Vault, or describe them. Character Lock saves a reference sheet so the face can travel from scene to scene.
- Generate the storyboardThe Director Canvas breaks the logline into shots. You approve each still, frame by frame, before anything moves.
- Animate and exportAnimate the frames you approved, then stitch them into one film and download it without a Filmoyo watermark.
The Director Canvas is what makes the middle of that list lighter. It drafts the shots from the logline, so you are not writing a fresh prompt for every cut. You still approve the pictures. That is the work. It is not a measured “ten times faster.” It is the difference between directing a draft and prompting in the dark.

FAQ
What you still have to do.
Do I need a film-school script?
No. A logline of one or two sentences is the start. You still read the frames and reject the ones that are wrong.
Why is this less work than prompting every shot?
Manual prompting means a new prompt, and often a new face, for every cut. The Director Canvas drafts the storyboard from the logline. You spend the time approving pictures, not inventing the whole film one isolated prompt at a time.
Is the export a finished Hollywood short?
It is a stylized AI film. Length depends on the shots you approve and the credits you spend. It is not a live-action crew.
Then export
A short is the shots you were willing to approve.
The review shows the demo. Pricing is $27 or $37. The logline bonus is a pile of starters if the blank page is the hard part.
